We are a small and growing (like leaven) congregation that came together in the spring of 2021 to simply gather to worship the Saviour & King of the world according to His Word. We began to do so because at the time we could not find another local congregation committed to worshiping corporately in submission to Christ our Lord, nor could we find any churches where we would be welcome to do so remotely while remaining in fellowship and good standing with them.
It is an incredible blessing in these times of increasing division in the world to commit to joyfully set aside the empty philosophies and fears that so easily entangle us, in order to unite as a family of faith who have been called together by God’s grace, fixing our lives and worship upon Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
THE ESSENTIAL GROUNDS THAT UNITE CHRIST CHURCH IS THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. We trust wholly in the Spirit’s living testimony in the Bible, that God came into the world to save us from sin and eternal wrath, by grace through faith in Christ Jesus to the glory of God. The gospel is the power of God for salvation from sin to everyone who believes, and there is salvation in no one else, nor by any other means or works of righteousness (John 3:16-18; Rom 1:16; 2 Thess 1:9; Acts 4:11; Titus 3:5-7).
- OUR TEACHING STATEMENT is The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith
- OUR CONGREGATIONAL CONFESSION OF FAITH is The Nicene Creed
Currently we are not affiliated with any particular denomination. This is not to be confused with a non-denominational church. Though an independent congregation, we identify with reformed Baptist distinctives and practices, and seek to network with like minded churches and ministries that also hold to the convictions of historic Evangelical convictions.
The aim of the leadership of Christ Church is to be comprised of biblically qualified Elders (also called “Pastors” or “overseers/bishops” in the Bible) and Deacons. (1 Timothy 3:1-13)
Pastor Scott grew up in Norwood, ON hearing and neglecting the call to forsake his love of sin and follow Christ more times than he could remember, until the Lord graciously saved him in high school turning his desires and future plans for his own life upside down. His increasing hunger to study the Word eventually led him to pursue biblical studies at Rocky Mountain College in Calgary where he graduated in 2014. He has served in various roles of pastoral ministry in Alberta and Ontario since 2012, most recently as the pastor of Vankleek Hill Baptist Church from 2019-2021. He met his wife Rosie at bible college and they are blessed with six children.
